Vallis Henley

Director

I am so excited to be the director of the preschool at Geneva Presbyterian Church.  I feel that I have been led to this position and church to help start the preschool and grow the children’s ministry.  I am passionate about early childhood education and am eager to put my knowledge and experience to work.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and am certified to teach Prek3 – 3rd grade.  Most recently I have worked as independent contractor with University of Florida as an online instructor for Early Childhood courses.  Before working at UF, I worked at Episcopal Children’s Services as an Early Learning Specialist.  I have also worked as a Kindergarten teacher in Saint John’s County and continue to substitute with the county.  I look forward to being the director of the preschool and helping children learn about the love of Jesus Christ.  My goal is for children to know God and to inspire a love for school while having fun in a safe, loving and welcoming environment.

Three Year Old Teacher

I am excited to be a part of Geneva Presbyterian Preschool!  This will be my sixth year working with three year olds, though I have twelve years’ experience as an Early Childhood educator.  I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Florida. After graduation I taught Kindergarten for seven years at Beauclerc Elementary.  As well as working with children in a classroom setting I have spent the past twelve years raising my own three children.

Each child is unique. God has created us beautifully with individual strengths.  My job as a teacher is to help children discover their individuality and work alongside them to maximize it. I believe in hands-on experiences and learning creatively through play.   I am looking forward to a fun-filled year!

Our Story

In the summer of 2016, following the success of another popular Vacation Bible School a group of elders gathered to see how we might use our facilities in a similar way year round.  We had the space, safely and privately situated behind our main church building, and we felt the call.  That call was to offer a preschool for the fast-growing neighborhoods around us so that children could learn and prepare for Kindergarten in a loving, safe, Christian environment.  Children learn through play, guided play with a strong focus on what is coming next in the very highly rated St. Johns County School System.  We knew we had the capacity to provide a happy, healthy place… and so we have.  We opened Fall 2017, and it has been a joy for all involved.
